Behind the Walls: The Myth of Dignity in Jails and Prisons for People with Disabilities
Jails and prisons are designed to separate people from their communities, often rendering both incarcerated people and their experiences invisible. Behind these walls, the harms, barriers, and human rights violations faced by people in custody, especially those with disabilities, go unseen and unaddressed.
Join us as we host Jennifer Toon of Lioness Justice Impacted Women’s Alliance in conversation with advocates Jabari Nicks, Jordan Landry, and Tremmel Watson. Together, they will discuss their experiences in jails and prisons as people with disabilities, with Tremmel sharing his perspective as someone who is Deaf and hard of hearing.
